Saturday Event Suggestion
Kingston Public Library
Saturday, January 14, 2017 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm
We hope you will come and greet Lilias at the opening reception for her January art exhibit. Her work is on view in the gallery and the reading area throughout the month of January. The reception is open to all.
This January, the Kingston Public Library Art Committee is proud to feature the extraordinary talents of Lilias Cingolani. As an artist, Lilias has always had the courage to explore new challenges and has brought a depth of new understanding to her subjects and for her viewers. Lilias is known nationally for her involvement in the New Art Forum which met for over 20 years in the Ye Olde Yeller Yankee Barn.
She believes that the urge to create dwells within each of us. Some savor repeating the same themes-much to their satisfaction. Others are enthralled with continued experimentation and creativity-like Picasso.
I am perpetually curious about ideas and first experimented with handmade paper imagery. This led to other surface designs from printmaking to acrylic painting, bookmaking, and collages, etc. Creating art enriches our lives.
Lilias has lived in Kingston all her life. She graduated from Simmons College with a degree in chemistry and taught in the science department at Silver Lake Regional High School. Lilias later became the school librarian.
